The Oakura Messenger or Tom is a community newslink that has been in production since October 2000.  We are a quality publisher of important local issues, events, historical data, images and community feed back.  The Oakura Messenger began as a 4 page monthly newsletter.  Now the tom is a 24-30 page high quality cartridge paper magazine featuring regular monthly columns which include:  His Worship the Mayor Mr Peter Tennent, MP for New Plymouth, The Right Honorable Harry Duyhoven, local schools – Oakura and Omata, feature students work and achievements plus provide information on school developments, sports clubs, business advertorials, music reviews, wine critic, gardening, Community Board reports, history bites, I Remember When (reminisces from local identities), travel diaries, health issues, preschool reports, community groups and kids page.

The tom team consists of Tracey Lusk and Kim Ferens – co owners and directors of the business.

Both Tracey and Kim work from home offices.  Other tom team members are Ron our very experienced and capable layout and creative director and Louise our professional proof reader who ensures every article is of a high standard.

New comers to the tom area use the publication as a tool to find our what is available in the community.
